NA, and Al-Anon Meetings in Bremerton, WA

More than 200 Kitsap County residents died of a drug overdose in 2017. Even more were hospitalized for non-fatal overdoses. The AA and NA meetings in Bremerton can help our friends and neighbors get clean before it’s too late.

Kitsap County Drug Problem

It’s no secret that the drug problem in Bremerton, WA is bad. Very bad.

In fact, heroin and other opioids have had such disastrous effects on the local population that our small city was the subject of a recent PBS documentary.

Entitled Chasing Heroin, the film examines how drugs (specifically heroin) has impacted the lives of local residents and the city as a whole.

“You [can’t[ walk down the streets in Bremerton without finding hypodermic needles laying in the gutters and laying in the parks and on the children’s equipment,” local resident Robert Parker says in the movie. “It used to be nobody knew someone that was on heroin. Then all of a sudden, I knew 50 people that had an issue with heroin.”

And he’s right. According to information provided by the Kitsap Public Health Health District, nearly 100 out of every 100,000 local residents lose their lives to a drug overdose each year. Even more suffer in silence. While not every addict dies of a substance abuse problem, they may ruin their lives and face severely negative consequences.

But it doesn’t have to be like this.

There are too many addiction resources available in this city for it to have such a bad problem. The Narcotics Anonymous meetings in Bremerton, for example, help hundreds of local addicts fight against their addictions.

It’s important to remember that help is available. If you or a loved one is currently struggling with drug or alcohol addiction, you should have a look at the resource guide below. We’ve listed dozens of meetings that may be able to help you get sober before it’s too late.

Narcotics Anonymous: Helping Kitsap County Residents Battle Addiction

It’s not easy to overcome a drug addiction. Dependency, after all, is a brain-altering disease that changes the way the addict’s mind functions.

Therefore, it takes time, patience, and hard work to get clean. But luckily, there are people out there that want to help you along the way.

Narcotics Anonymous

At the NA meetings in Kitsap County, you’ll find dozens of local addicts who have gone through (or are currently going through) the same struggles you are.

Every day of the week, these addicts meet in community centers, church basements, and other locations to talk about their experiences and offer support to one another.

Using the Twelve Steps, these addicts work together to confront their past behaviors, forgive themselves for how they’ve acted, and develop coping mechanisms for living a drug-free life.

If you live in the Greater Seattle area, you’re lucky because there is a lively and vibrant community of recovered addicts. These groups would be thrilled to have you at a meeting and to lend a hand as you work to get back on the right path.

Are you sitting there asking yourself, “Where can I find an NA meeting near me?”. Well, you’re in luck!

We’ve compiled a list of NA meetings in or near Bremerton. Check it out!

Bremerton Resource Profile

Alcoholics Anonymous: Bremerton Residents Getting Sober Together

This city’s drinking problem is nearly as bad as its drug problem. In 2017, nearly 20 people died in alcohol-related car crashes. Even more faced life-altering injuries at the hands of an impaired driver.

So, it’s quite clear that our residents need help. If our friends and neighbors can find proper treatment, we may able to reduce the number of people who die on our roads.

Alcoholics Anonymous

If you or a loved one currently suffers from alcohol addiction, it’s important to find support. Alcoholism not only threatens other citizens on the road but can have severely negative consequences in your own life.

It would benefit you greatly to attend an AA meeting in Bremerton or another nearby city. These meetings could help you to bring an end to your drinking habit once and for all.

This organization is similar to NA in that it provides addicts with a support network of like-minded folks who are also fighting their addiction. Many people find these support meetings to be life-changing experiences.

Wondering where you can find an AA meeting near you? We’ve got your back!

Below, you’ll find an extensive list of local meetings. Hopefully, one of these can provide you with the help and support you need to get sober.

Important note: Some meetings are marked as “closed”. Only committed members of the Program are invited to these sessions. If you’d like to attend one of these meetings, you should go to some open meetings first.

Al-Anon: A Support Group for Local Families

There’s no experience quite as heartbreaking as loving an addict.

After all, when someone is addicted to drugs or alcohol, there’s not much you can do for them. You can cry, plea for them to stop or even yell at them, but you can force them to quit unless they want to. Ultimately, they’re the only person who can bring their addiction to an end.

Over time, this experience can make you feel isolated and overwhelmed. It can bring you sadness, anger, and guilt.

Al-Anon: A Support Group for Local Families

Northpoint Recovery believes that no one should have to suffer through the pain of addiction on their own—even the family members of addicts.

That’s why we’ve compiled a small list of Al-Anon meetings in the area. These meetings are essentially support groups where you can meet other family members who are dealing with the addiction of a loved one.

At these meetings, individuals get together to discuss their experience and work through their overwhelming feelings.

It may sound futile, but many people find Al-Anon to be a great resource that helps them through this difficult time.

Do you love someone who suffers from drug addiction or alcoholism? Al-Anon could provide you with the support network you need.

Don’t suffer in silence anymore. Check out one of the meetings listed below.

Please note: Meeting schedules and locations are subject to change. Northpoint Recovery is not affiliated with any of the meetings listed below and therefore not responsible for changes in time, date, or location.

Drug Rehab: Focusing on Your Recovery

Twelve-step meetings are great resources for addicts. But, there’s a chance that you might need more intensive treatment to help you get clean.

Drug Rehab Services

Oftentimes, addicts need time and space to focus on getting sober. This is why rehab programs exist. Drug rehab allows you to focus on your recovery so that you can heal from your addiction.

It’s important to remember that addiction recovery is a lifelong process that never truly ends. You’ll always be very susceptible to relapsing back into your addiction, but getting the right kind of professional help from the start can make such a big difference.

When you go to drug rehab, you’ll be able to participate in:

  • Group therapy meetings that will allow you to discuss your addiction and any challenges you’ve faced within a group setting of your peers.
  • Individual therapy sessions that will help you understand the source of your addiction and promote recovery.
  • Family therapy that will provide you and your family with the help you need to restore broken relationships.
  • Proper follow-up care that will provide you with the ongoing treatment you need to prevent relapsing.

Detox: The First Step to Your Recovery

Drug and alcohol detox is still a fairly new idea to many people who have gotten help for their addictions in the past. People used to go straight to rehab. But these days, experts believe that the first step in any type of addiction recovery is to go through a preliminary detox program.

Detox: The First Step to Your Recovery

Quitting drugs, after all, can be quite painful. Because your body becomes accustomed to having the drug around, it doesn’t respond kindly when you deprive it of that substance.

So, once you cease use, you’ll experience a number of uncomfortable symptoms. These symptoms are usually the side effects of drug withdrawal.

Essentially, professional detox centers are established to help addicts manage their withdrawal symptoms. The whole process is a lot easier if you go through it under the supervision of professional doctors.
