Bonney Lake, WA Addiction Resource Guide

Bonney Lake is a beautiful and humble city in Pierce County, Washington. It’s close to many major cities, like Tacoma and Auburn. It’s a peaceful and quiet residential neighbourhood where many families are taking root.

Despite being a great place to start a family, Bonney Lake is not untouched by the recent drug addiction epidemic. The most commonly abused drugs in this city are opioids. Both prescription opioids, like oxycodone, and illicit opioids, like heroin, are commonly abused. These drugs are highly addictive.

“Bonney Lake follows the same trends as Pierce County, which saw over 175 drug addiction treatment admissions relating to opioids in 2015.”

If you or a loved one is struggling with an addiction, the key is to get help as soon as possible. Don’t let wait. The truth is that overcoming an addiction is never easy. Most people fail and relapse due to the intense withdrawal symptoms that they experience.

Getting the right type of help and acquiring the right recovery tools will make a huge difference. Take a look at these addiction resources available in Bonney Lake.

Drug and Alcohol Detox and Rehab Facilities

If you’re looking for a drug rehab program or an alcohol rehab program, then you should really consider the level of care that you need to succeed. The level of care refers to the amount of supervision and care that you will receive while at the drug and alcohol treatment center.

In general, the level of care provided can be separated into two different types: inpatient care and outpatient care. Bonney Lake has one rehab center that offers outpatient care.

  • Inpatient treatment program. This type of treatment offers the most amount of supervision. Patients will move directly into the rehab center for anywhere from 28 to 90 days. Our rehab program takes 28 days to complete. Patients do not leave until they have successfully completed the program. They live in a controlled environment, so they have a higher chance at successfully getting sober.
  • Outpatient treatment program. Outpatient care comes in many different levels. Some patients may opt for a more intense type of treatment like a Partial Hospitalization Program, which requires a commitment of at least 5 days of therapy a week. Others may choose an intensive outpatient program (IOP), which only involves 9 hours of therapy a week or a standard outpatient program will involve even fewer hours. With an outpatient program, patients can pick and choose when they would like to receive treatment.

Each rehab facility will specialize in a different type of service or will offer a different type of amenity. Make sure that you take the time to interview the rehab center in order to get a better idea of what may work for you. Do your research, and you won’t be disappointed by your choice and decision.

Bonney Lake Recovery Meetings and Support Groups

While a huge part of getting sober is getting the right type of addiction treatment, another part to getting sober is getting the right support. Both in-person and online support groups can make a huge difference in the amount of motivation that a person can have to get sober.

There are plenty of recovery meetings and support groups in Bonney Lake. Some follow a 12-step program, while others are more unique. There’s a lot of evidence that going to these support groups at least once a week can have a tremendous impact on one’s recovery. Those who need more support may even try to go to a recovery meeting once a day.

The oldest 12-step program of all-time is probably Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). This program was founded in 1935 by two recovering alcoholics. It’s a 12-step program that involves asking members to make a personal inventory of their own shortcomings and to make amends to those that they have wronged.

AA meetings in Bonney Lake give you an opportunity to not only share the things that are bothering you, but also an opportunity to network and bond with others in similar situations. There are quite a few Bonney Lake AA meetings.

The only difference is that these programs treat drug addictions. These meetings can make a huge difference to someone who is struggling with a substance use disorder (SUD).

Much like AA, attendance at these meetings is free. There are also not commitments and obligations involved with going to a meeting. There is only one NA meeting in Bonney Lake. Addiction affects everyone, not just the addict. Any family members or close friends of alcoholics may feel stressed or impacted by the addiction. They may need an outlet to share their pain and their sorrows. This is where Al-Anon meetings come in. They loosely follow the same structure and principles as a 12-step program.

Al-Anon meetings help loved ones learn how to move on with their lives and how to help the addict. These meetings are often educational in nature as well. There are two Al-Anon meetings in Bonney Lake. Once again, if these meetings don’t work for you, expand your search to nearby cities. You’ll have a lot more meeting times and locations to choose from if you do.

Teenagers and young adults with an addict in their family tend to see life from a different perspective. If one grew up with an alcoholic parent, the individual might need to grow up faster and take on more responsibilities. Alateen meetings help teenagers understand the situation that they are in. They offer support to a certain demographic.

Most Alateen meetings are led by teenagers. They can, however, be sponsored by an Al-Anon member.
