In 1935, two men who were both alcoholics had a desire to stop drinking. That was why they started Alcoholics Anonymous. These men believed that people needed support from their peers in order to be successful. Today, AA is available all over the world, and millions of people have gotten sober because of this organization.

Al-Anon hosts weekly support group meetings for families.
