Like everywhere in the US, opioids are a problem. This include Heyburn. Over a decade ago, doctors began to administer the new pain management scheme. This included painkillers like Percocet and OxyContin. It wasn’t the patient's fault that they became dependent. Doctors over prescribed these drugs, especially in rural areas. Millions of people became addicted to opioid prescription drugs.
When the government fought back against the epidemic, it caused many patients to all of a sudden be without the medication. This caused a few different scenarios. Some would go into drug rehab programs, others would quit, and others would seek out different means to get their fix. This would include doctor shopping, seeking out their medications on the street, or turning to heroin.
