Addiction can affect anyone and everyone. It’s crept its way into many homes. There are many teeagers and young adults in America who personally known an addict. The addict may be their parent, sibling, or other family members. These teenagers are often forced to grow up a little early. They are exposed to negative situations, and may even need to become caretakers for the addict.Â
Many teenagers often have a difficult time expressing their pain. They may believe that what they’re experiencing is normal. Many teenagers may even give up living their own lives to take care of the addict.Â
Alateen meetings are designed for teenagers between the ages of 13 and 19. Some meetings welcome older members and others welcome younger meetings. The meetings are led by teenagers. This private gathering offers an intimate place for many teenagers to seek support, help and advice. It also gives them an opportunity to share their pain, so it doesn’t become a burden to them.
