Do You Need Drug or Alcohol Rehab Quiz

Quiz: Do You Need Drug or Alcohol Rehab?

For the longest time, you've felt as though you had your substance use under your control. You would use when you wanted to use, and then you were able to abstain from drugs or alcohol for quite some time. However, perhaps that's started to change, and you no longer feel quite as in control as you once did. It may be time to start thinking about whether or not you have an addiction, but it's possible that you're just not sure how you can tell.

This quiz will help you understand whether or not your use of drugs or alcohol has progressed to place of needing professional treatment. While it might be difficult to face the fact that you have an addiction, finding out the truth now will allow you to get a head start on getting the help you need.

Signs That I'm an Addict

It's not always easy to tell if you're a drug addict. Most people believe that they're abusing drugs, and they know this is a problem. However, they don't feel addicted to anything. Perhaps this is where you are right now. It's even possible that even after taking this quiz, you're still not sure.

If that's the case for you, it might help you to take a look at some of the more common signs of addiction. You could be addicted to drugs if you:

  • Don't use your medication the way that they were prescribed for you.
  • Take large doses of your prescription meds regularly.
  • Use medications that aren't prescribed for you.
  • Alter the way that you take your medicine, such as by crushing the pills.
  • Have had to use larger amounts of drugs over time because you could no longer feel the effects.
  • When the drug wears off, you start to experience withdrawal.
  • Have tried to stop using in the past, but couldn't.
  • Think about using drugs almost constantly.
  • Are unable to adhere to the drug use limits you set for yourself.
  • Have had a hard time taking care of your daily responsibilities.

Do any of these sound familiar to you? If they do, you are most likely an addict. This is even more probable if you also scored high on the drug addiction quiz.

How to Deal With Addiction

Sometimes when people find out they have an addiction, they panic. They never meant to get addicted to anything, and they're not quite sure what to do. If this is the case for you, you need to know how to deal with your addiction with a level head.

The first step is already done, which is great news! You've identified that you have a problem with substances. The next step is figuring out which steps to take to quit. It may cross your mind to simply stop using, but please avoid this. It's much better to quit under professional supervision. This will help to protect you against any negative medical or health consequences.

You don't have to go through your quit on your own. Going to a drug rehab is the best way for you to stop using successfully.

My Loved One Might be an Addict

Perhaps you took our addiction quiz with a loved one in mind. You can't help but to be concerned because you can see that the drug use is a problem. It's hard to cope when you have an addicted family member. However, there are a few things you can do to manage when you love an addicted person.

  • Recognize the truth about the situation. The addiction is a problem that isn't going to go away without treatment.
  • Learn how to love your family member. This is often harder than it sounds. Try to separate the addiction from your loved one. They are not one in the same.
  • Keep yourself healthy. If you allow it, you can spend all of your time worrying about your loved one. You need to take care of yourself first.
  • Consider an intervention to help your loved one see the need for drug treatment.
