Lindsay Campbell, a business development specialist for Northpoint Recovery, recently shared her personal recovery story at the Meridian Anti-Drug Coalition’s 21st annual recovery day breakfast. The event, held at Meridian City Hall in honor of National Recovery Month, was covered by the Idaho Statesman.
Now celebrating 26 years of sobriety, Lindsay spoke openly about how her addiction began at a young age and how a second chance became the start of her recovery. Since then, she has dedicated herself to giving back. She has served on the boards of the Southwest Idaho Recovery Community Center foundation and Protect Idaho Kids, and she has worked with lawmakers to support funding for treatment, recovery, and mental health resources.
At the center of Lindsay’s message is reducing stigma. She reminded the audience that addiction doesn’t have a certain look, and that people in recovery are part of every community: “We’re in grocery stores, we’re in government, we’re in business.” She encouraged the Treasure Valley to get to know people before judging them, and to remember that hope is always available.
Today, Lindsay brings that same message to her work at Northpoint, helping people and families take the first step into treatment. That mission is close to Northpoint’s roots. Northpoint was founded in Boise by people with lived experience of addiction and recovery. Our Idaho programs now include inpatient treatment in Boise, outpatient care at Ashwood, and outpatient mental health services.
