University Place, WA Area’s Addiction Recovery Resources

Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Resource Guide for the University Place, WA Area

For those battling substance abuse problems in the University Place, Washington area, there are many drug and alcohol addiction recovery resources available. They include 12-Step meetings such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous. There are even ways to get help online, and families can get assistance through Al-Anon and Alateen.

The issue that so many people face is that they simply do not know where to turn for help. They may think that the only way to recover is by going to rehab, and while that is an option, it is not the only one. For this reason, we have put together this helpful addiction recovery resource guide for University Place and the local community. It provides information about AA and NA meetings, as well as Al-Anon and Alateen meetings. We have also included details about detox and rehab.

We want to mention that we are not affiliated with any of the programs we list below. We only provide them for informational purposes.

What is Narcotics Anonymous?

For people with drug addictions, Narcotics Anonymous offers them a place to go and get the support they need. This organization was founded in 1955, and it is now available to people worldwide. Millions of people have gotten help with their addictions because of the work of NA.

Anyone with any type of addiction is welcome to attend their meetings. They are usually held on a weekly basis, but it is not uncommon for people to attend more than one meeting every week. The attenders have the opportunity to talk with others who understand their situations. They are free to share about their struggles and offer support and help to others as well.

Going to a University Place area NA meeting offers people so much support when they are working on staying clean and sober. There are several to choose from.

University Place Resource Profile

What is Alcoholics Anonymous?

Alcoholics Anonymous has been around since 1935. It was the first 12-Step meeting of its kind, and they also meet on a weekly basis. Some people prefer to attend more than one meeting per week. The only requirement for attending AA is to have a desire to stop drinking.

At AA, they focus on all kinds of subjects. Some will go over the 12-Steps, while others will focus on one topic in particular. There are often special speakers and discussion sessions. It is a place for alcoholics to come and not feel judged but feel welcomed. Like NA, AA is available all over the world and millions of people’s lives have been changed as a result.

There are many AA meetings in the University Place area. This makes it easy for people to find one that will work well for them.

What are Al-Anon and Alateen?

Families often have the most difficult time when someone they love has an addiction to drugs or alcohol. They may try to get them to stop using, but their pleas usually fall on deaf ears. This leads to a lot of emotional pain, and it can be hard for them to cope. Al-Anon is a source of support for them, and their work is so important.

Al-Anon holds weekly meetings in various locations for the families of addicts and alcoholics. These meetings are places where people can come and talk with others who understand their struggles.

Alateen is very similar, and it is actually a part of Al-Anon. The only difference is that it is for young people. They also hold weekly meetings, and it helps teenagers and young adults to know that there is a group of peers that they can talk to.

Attending a University Place area Al-Anon meeting can be so helpful for struggling families. There are several in the local area.
