Addiction Rehab Facilities and Other Recovery Options Near Federal Way, Washington
Several alcohol and drug rehab centers are located in and around Federal Way, WA. There are also many other addiction recovery resources that can provide support to help people stop using. It is important to remember that everyone is different, which means addicts and alcoholics need to choose the best program to meet their needs.
Some people do really well by attending 12-Step programs. Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous can both offer people a lot of support as they recover. Their meetings are free, and they serve as a way to introduce people to others who are dealing with the same challenges.
In addition, families are often the ones who carry the heaviest burdens when a loved one is addicted. They rarely know where to turn to get help. Al-Anon and Alateen can provide them with a lot of support, and they should definitely take advantage of their services.
We feel it is important to note that we are not affiliated with these organizations. We mention them here because we believe in what they do, and have seen people benefit from their programs. In addition to drug and alcohol rehab facilities, they are just some of the addiction recovery resources that are available in the Federal Way area.
Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous, or AA, is one of the best-known addiction support groups. They focus on helping people addicted to alcohol. The group invented the famous 12-step program. Members use this program to help them stay sober.
Alcoholics anonymous has helped hundreds of thousands of people over of the years. The group doesn’t have any membership requirements. It isn’t tied to any church or religious organization. Some meetings focus on specific steps in the 12-step program. Other meetings are more general.
How AA Helps with Alcohol Addiction
The primary way that AA helps with alcohol addiction is by giving people a support network. People can share their stories. This helps them understand that they’re not alone. This support network helps people stay sober.

What is SMART Recovery?
SMART Recovery is a program that gives people a different support group option that is not based on the 12 Steps. Their focus is on creating change in people’s lives and empowering them to want to embrace that change.
They offer weekly support group meetings so peer counseling is readily available. Through their instruction, participants learn how to manage their lives without relying on substances.
Al Anon
Al Anon is a group dedicated to providing support to the friends and family of addicts. They provide a place where people can get help with the unique challenges of loving an addict. Members share stories with each other. They offer advice. Members also help each other find ways to cope with their personal hardships.
How Does Al Anon Help Family and Friends of Addicts?
Al Anon helps members in several ways. First, the support network helps people realize that they aren’t alone in their struggles. This helps people find the strength they need to live their lives.
Second, Al Anon offers advice and techniques to help people cope. These might include ways to talk to someone about their addiction. It also might include helping people escape an abusive relationship with an addict.
Finally, Al Anon has a special group for children and teenagers. It’s called Alateen. This group focuses on the unique challenges children and teens face from drugs and alcohol. That includes helping them recognize right from wrong. It also includes helping them understand addiction and their relationship to it.

Opting for Professional Drug and Alcohol Treatment in Federal Way
Stopping the use of drugs and alcohol can be very dangerous in some cases. Withdrawal symptoms are to be expected, and they often require treatment. But people also need to address the mental part of their addictions as well.
The right addiction recovery program can provide help for both the mental and physical sides of addiction. That is why this is often seen as the best option.
Drug and alcohol detox doesn’t have to be really expensive, and in most cases, it’s not. If you have health insurance, the Affordable Care Act has required that your insurance provides insurance benefits to help cover the costs of your addiction treatment.
Some insurance companies even cover alcohol and drug detox in full. This makes it so easy for people to get the substance abuse treatment they really need, and finally leave their addictions behind for good.
Some people might wonder why they should travel for rehab. However, there are several benefits to starting your road to recovery somewhere other than where you live.
The first benefit is that you won’t be distracted by your day-to-day life. This is a bigger thing than people might think. After all, the stress of living is one of the primary causes of substance abuse. Removing yourself from that situation lets you focus on getting better.
Another benefit to traveling for addiction recovery is that you won’t be around the same people. This has a similar effect as getting away from your daily life and its problem. Most addicts hang out with other addicts. That means you’ll be tempted to use if you continue to see your old friends while you’re recovering.
Finally, out-of-state rehab helps people by putting them in a new environment. Our facility provides the tranquil surroundings that you need to focus on getting better. As a result, it’s easier to make your recovery your number one priority.
Drug and Alcohol Detox Centers in Federal Way
Going through alcohol and drug detox is the first step in recovery. Detoxing helps to purge the body of unwanted toxins, which are what lead to withdrawal symptoms. But the right treatment can decrease their severity and even make some of them go away completely.
Detoxing off drugs and alcohol is a process, but it is so helpful for long-term recovery. It typically takes between 5-10 days.
The SAMHSA treatment locator tool tells us that there are four detox programs within five miles of the Federal Way area. There is only one located in the city itself.
None of these are hospital-based. In fact, the closest hospital that offers detox services is almost eight miles away. But this might not be the best option due to lack of social interaction between patients. Also, hospitals do not always refer their patients to rehabs once they go through detox, and this step is vital.
Federal Way Drug Rehab Facilities
Finding a quality drug rehab program is so important for people with drug addictions. It allows them to work with professionals to determine what caused them to start using. Once that is known, the right steps can be taken to treat the underlying cause.
There are five drug rehab facilities located in Federal Way. But there are additional options for those who do not mind traveling farther away from home. In total, there are 12 of them within a 5-mile radius of the city. They are a combination of inpatient and outpatient programs.
Alcoholism Treatment in Federal Way
Alcoholics need the right kind of professional treatment in order to be successful in recovery. That is why a high-quality alcohol rehab center is highly recommended.
Many people suffer from co-occurring disorders, which are mental health conditions that can lead to addictions. Anxiety and depression are just two examples, and many people start drinking as a way to self-medicate their symptoms. These conditions need to be treated, and going to alcohol rehab can help.
The City of Federal Way has five alcohol rehab centers, but there are several more in the neighboring cities. People definitely have options, and they should search to find the program that is right for them.
