Drug and Alcohol Addiction Recovery Resources in Des Moines, Washington
There are many alcohol and drug addiction recovery resources available for those living in Des Moines, Washington who struggle with substance abuse problems. Statistics show that a lot of people in the state need support to stop using. For instance, did you know that around 3% of people over the age of 12 have been dependent upon an illicit substance during the last year? Also, more than 13% of all deaths in WA State can be attributed to drugs or alcohol.

People continue to use because they are not aware of their options for recovery. AA and NA meetings can provide a lot of support, and there are also professional treatment programs available to help as well. Families need to be made aware that there are support services for them in the form of Al-Anon and Alateen.
While we are not affiliated with any of the following resources, we feel it is important for people to know about them. Otherwise, they continue to put themselves at risk by using and possibly attempting to quit on their own.
Alcoholics Anonymous
Alcoholics Anonymous is an organization that offers help and hope to recovering alcoholics. The only requirement for membership is to have a desire to stop drinking. They hold meetings on a weekly basis, and they can be either open or closed. Only people with drinking problems are allowed to attend closed AA meetings.

For many alcoholics, it helps to have others to talk to who understand where you are coming from. These meetings provide that opportunity and they have helped millions of people worldwide.
There are several AA meetings in the Des Moines area taking place all week long. It is very convenient to find one that works for everyone’s schedule.

Narcotics Anonymous
Narcotics Anonymous meetings are available for people dealing with any type of addiction, including alcoholism. This organization got its start 20 years after AA. While the two are very similar, there are some differences.

Like AA anyone who wants to stop using is welcome to attend. They follow the 12-Step of Recovery like AA, but with just a few changes to the way they are worded. NA has been a lifesaver for so many people with addictions.
Going to a Des Moines area NA meeting can be so helpful for someone with an addiction to drugs or alcohol. There are several meetings to choose from.

What is Al-Anon?
Al-Anon is an organization that was founded as a way to help the families of addicts through their challenges. It can be extremely hard to have a loved one with an addiction. People often do not know where to turn or what to do to help them. That is what makes the work of Al-Anon so vital.
Families are welcome to attend meetings and talk with the other participants about their struggles. Many lifelong friendships are made through Al-Anon and it helps to know that you are not alone.
When someone is an addict or alcoholic, it is often their loved ones who suffer the most. Families can find strength and encouragement through Des Moines Al-Anon meetings. There are many scheduled throughout the week.

What is Alateen?
Al-Anon also offers a program that is specifically targeted toward young people called Alateen. They also have weekly meetings, but only teenagers, young adults and at times, older children attend. The meetings are monitored by an adult.
Young people are often much more likely to attend a support group with their peers. It helps them to talk with people their own age who are dealing with similar struggles.
There are several Alateen meetings in the Des Moines area. Young people can find them here:

Drug and Alcohol Treatment: Should You Consider Going to Rehab?

The reality is that while support group meetings are helpful, they are often not enough. This is especially true for someone who is new to recovery. If this is your first time ever getting help for your substance abuse problem, you may want to consider professional addiction treatment.
This generally involves two different components for most people – detox and rehab. There are certain types of drugs that require detox prior to any other treatment. This is for your protection, and it can help you have a smoother recovery without having to worry about possible complications.
After detox has been completed, you will move on to rehab. There, you will receive individual counseling services, and well as many different types of therapy. If you choose to attend an inpatient treatment facility, you will be there for a total of 28 days.

Yes, and for your convenience, we can provide you with detox services in-house if you need them. We make it as easy as possible for you to get the help you need.
While every health insurance plan is different, these companies are required by law to provide these benefits for their customers. You may learn that your policy covers your treatment in full. Or, you may have to pay a small co-pay. Either way, it will be much more affordable for you because you have health insurance. We can quickly verify your insurance to give you more information.
Northpoint Recovery is located in Boise, Idaho, and it is less than eight hours from Des Moines, Washington by car. This is a very attractive quality for many of our patients. They like the idea of going away to rehab to focus on themselves and their recoveries. It is possible that you might feel the same way.
